I have a 4 camera DVR in my home and I have it set up for network viewing and control. I can use it fine on my home network but I would like to be able to access my DVR remotely over the internet. I have DSL service at home with dynamic IP. How difficult is it to set up for remote access?

If you can view your cameras and control your DVR over your home network, you are almost ready for remote access. Since you have DSL with static IP you should first setup a dynamic DNS account. After your account is set up and you install the small update utility on your home network, your dynamic IP will be automatically updated and you can reach your home network using the domain name you set up with the account. I use NO-IP for dynamic dns but DynDNS works just as good and they both offer free accounts. Once your dynamic DNS is running you need to setup your router to direct incoming requests to your DVR. Consult your router configuration instructions for NAT or port forwarding. After these steps are done you should be able to enter your dynamic dns domain name in your browser or DVR client and connect directly to your DVR the same way you do over your home network.
