Residential Telephone system - Residential Switch 3 years, 4 months ago #169

Im just about done with my telephone and network cabling for my home. I am looking for a residential telephone system to install next. I have 3 incoming phone lines and will have 8 extensions throughout the house. I would like to be able to put calls on hold and transfer calls between extensions as well. Anyone have a suggestion for a good phone sytem for home use?

I would recommend the Panasonic KX-TA824 telephone system. The basic system is ready for 3 incoming lines and up to 8 extensions which would be perfect for you. It is expandable for up to 8 CO lines and 24 extensions with expansion cards.

Cool, thanks. Have you used this system much? How hard is it program or configure? What is the approximate cost?

I've installed this system in several homes with good results and satisfied customers. The Panasonic KX-TA824 control panel with 3 desk phones included usually costs between $550 and $600 and you can purchase additional phones seperately. It is fairly easy to configure and has many options. You can designate which outside lines ring on which phones. It has built in intercom features for talking between house phones. You add a voice mail card for built in voice mailbox capability or it is compatible with CO provided voicemail. You can designate night, day and luch modes. Automatic call forwarding, call conferencing, page and pick-up, hold music or message. It takes a little time but its not too hard to configure.
