I would like to add an intercom to my house and I was told by the builder that it was prewired for an intercom system. I have shopped around a little and have found a lot of wireless systems for sale, but I would like to use a wired system if it is possible. I am never happy with my wireless phone signal and I would like the intercom to be reliable. My mother has limited mobility and will depend on the intercom a lot. I have found some wired systems, but I dont really understand the specifications. Here is what I have found for prewire. 2 shielded cables with 10 colored wires. Both of these run back to a box in the bedroom where the main controller will go (i assume). These go to outlet boxes, one in the kitchen and 1 in the office. There is also a cable with 2 small gauge wires and a bare wire which goes to the fron door. I think I have what I need for 3 main units and a door unit. Can anyone tell me if this is the case? Any recomendations for hardware? thanks
