hello htdiy, your board has been a great help. im doing some of the wiring in my new house. I have a On-Q/Legrand enclosure and i bought an On-Q 4-line 12 location phone module at lowes that snaps into the enclosure. I have 2 incoming lines and i need to distribute one of them to 11 locations. i thought i could use this module, but after looking at the wiring diagram it looks like i can only get 1 line to 4 locations and the rest are for additional lines. is there a way i can use it to distribute the line to more than 4 locations. i have one cat5 coming to the enclosure from the phone company's box on my house and 12 cat5 cables coming from all the phone outlets.

this module should work just right for you. First go ahead and install the phone panel in the enclosure. just snap it in. make sure all the cables can reach the module. install a RJ45 connector on all the cables, leaving enough slack for the cables to reach the phone module. all of the rj-45 connectors should be terminated according to th T568A wiring standard.
Pin # T568A
1 white/Green
2 Green
3 White/Orange
4 Blue
5 White/Blue
6 Orange
7 White/Brown
8 Brown
Plug the 11 cables which need line 1 into the ports labeled 'lines out', leaving the last port bottom right open then plug the single line getting line 2 into this bottom right port. Plug the cat5 from your phone company box (NID) into the port labeled 'lines in 1,2,3,4'.
Now in order to distibute line 1 to all 11 of those lines, you open the NID and connect the cat5 cable as follows. Untwist the wire pairs enough to reach the screw terminals. connect the solid blue, orange and green to the Red screw terminal for line 1, and the white/blue, white/orange and white green to the Green screw terminal for line 1. To get the line 2 to the bottom right port of the panel, connect the solid brown wire to the red terminal for line 2, and the white/brown to the green terminal for line 2.
Your done! it might sound a little complicated but its really very easy. look over the wiring diagram again after you reed this and it will make a lot more sense. be sure to test all of your RJ-45 connectors, it takes a little practice to get them right so buy a few extra RJ45 connectors. Also be sure and label all your cables as you go. a sharpie or other permanent marker works well.
